Back when I was much younger, a local grocery store took the step of having a few check out aisles where there were not tobacco products for sale. This was seen as a good thing, and I tend to agree. That seems quaint now that that stuff is now over in another section of most stores, but that was a big thing back then.

Around the time my son was born I remember groceries making it a point to have a special check out aisle where there was no candy. I appreciated that. My son was not big on making a big scene in stores, but it was nice not to have to run my shopping cart past a display of temptation for him.

I don’t care: Harry Potter

Today’s paper and electronic  news media focus on non news has been all about Harry Potter. Special newspaper sections and breathless teasers on the news telling me that they’ll get me ready for the new Harry Potter film.

I don’t care.

Now, I recognize that for whatever reason, the Potter books have gotten a lot of children to read. A child reading almost any book is a very good thing.

Who cares, and what is a celebrity blogger?

As usual, while things are getting crazy in the world, it is hard to find out about the important things going on without being forced to endure the completely unimportant things going on.

I am a peaceful, tolerant man. I know nothing about this person except that this is a face even a Quaker could punch.

My Yahoo front page could not wait to tell me about Perez Hilton, celebrity blogger, and his suit against the manager of the Black Eyed Peas. Apparently there was some face punching going on.

Who cares?
