As I was finishing my shopping today, I was thinking ahead to that most neglected of holidays – Boxing Day.
A few years ago I told you what no one else ever has about Boxing Day, including outing the political corruption of President Grover Cleveland, the man who destroyed that wonderful day’s status as a holiday.
I contend that there is no “war on Christmas”, but there was a war on Boxing Day. Boxing Day, and the rest of us, lost. The proof is in the pudding, which is a stupid place to keep proof.

In Canada we celebrate Boxing Day – it’s a holiday for government employees & for others it’s like the US Black Friday where everything is on sale for 75% off (or so it seems).
And here it is a mysterious day that always has Canada in parenthesis after it. It’s almost like the people who print calendars want us to know it doesn’t apply to us. “It’s Boxing Day, but not for you. It is for them, over there.”

I never knew how much Grover Cleveland looked like Brian Doyle Murray. Funny, for a guy named after a muppet, you’d think he could at least have his own look. He has the same first name as this second-tier puppet, the same look as a second-tier actor, and the same last name as a ….well, I will just stop there.
Brian Doyle Murray was so good all three of his names could be last names. Who could forget his role as Lou Loomis in Caddyshack?
No, I didn’t know Lou Loomis off the top of my head. I forgot Brian Doyle Murray’s role in Caddyshack.
